BIO
Gary is a native of Jacksonville Florida where he continues to reside with his wife Debby and their 3.5 lb. Yorkshire “Terror”, Lacey.
Gary grew up in Church from “cradle roll” to youth department but at age 18 Gary left the church and took a position as the drummer and vocalist for a prominent traveling rock band. After five years locally and on the road and five years of falling deeper and deeper into the trappings that come with such a lifestyle, Gary and friends formed the dance and show band “Crystal Image”. Back on the road for the next few years saw Gary fall deeper and deeper into addiction and depression. Gary came back to Jacksonville in 1978 and found work locally for the band and two years later became a partner in ownership of an oceanfront night club in Jacksonville Beach called “The Crystal Palace”. The next ten years would be no better for Gary as the more worldly success he gained, the more addicted, lonely and angry he became. In 1988, God began to work on his heart and through a series of God orchestrated events, Gary walked away from the only life he had known for twenty-one years.
Within a few short months , and after years of continual prayer from Gary’s Mother and Father, Harral and Ruth, Gary returned to the church he had grown up in and there found the joy and comfort that he realized could only come through forgiveness from God through the redemptive blood of Christ Jesus and the love of our Holy God.
Gary and his lovely wife Debby, a professional artist and owner of An Elegant Finish, Inc., www.anelegantfinish.com, are long time members of The Great North Jacksonville Baptist Church under the powerful leadership and preaching of Dr. Herb Reavis, Jr. Gary is an active member of the music ministry under the direction of Minister of Music, and long time friend, Rev. Tim Rigdon.
Gary has been privileged to serve as bi-vocational worship leader for several Southern Baptist churches in and around the Jacksonville area.
Gary spent sixteen years in the Senior Health Care fields as an Assisted Living Facility Administrator and Facility Operations Manager and still calls on his special training in Senior Living Care and Alzheimer’s/Dementia Care as he ministers through music to over thirty Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living Facilities in the North Florida and South Georgia areas.
Gary and Debby have four wonderful children, Alicia (Mark), Heather (Brandon), Shanna (Rodney) and Adam. God has blessed them with ten beautiful grandchildren, Wren, Mark Adam, Gabriel, Dylan, Amelia, Madison, Haley, McKenzie, Katie, and Tyler.
In addition to his concert and revival schedule, Gary accepted a call in November 2009, to become the Worship Leader for Crusades For Christ, Inc., a tent revival ministry based in Lake City and Old Town, Florida. The ministry is completely financially underwritten and sponsored by the Anderson Columbia Company and the Anderson Family Charitable Foundation. He is also serving the ministry as part of the initial contact and marketing team.
